Hey all! Although summer is ending soon, the fun isn’t ending! For this month’s update I have some really awesome news!
Neon Odyssey’s First MASSIVE Playtest Is Here!
As promised, we launched the first playtest of Neon Odyssey today! It is a massive playtest with 300+ Pages across three PDFs that includes tons of options for players and GMs to get your Neon Odyssey games going now!
You can access the playtest documents you’re eligible for in the Digital Downloads Section of your Backerkit Survey. As a reminder, you will only receive the documents that include the content from the respective books you backed / pre-ordered, so to get access to all playtest material, you need to have ordered the entire trilogy. Additionally, your order needs to be paid in full and your survey completed in order to access them.
To submit your feedback on the playtest, please use this form.You can find full instructions on what we are looking for in the playtest files themselves. If you are eligible for the playtest, but do not have access in your digital downloads, reach out to [email protected], and our Customer Support team will get you sorted!

Our good friends have just launched a new crowdfunding campaign on Gamefound featuring Aberration, a 1–4 player cooperative dark-fantasy board game that combines tower defense, worker placement, bag building, asymmetric heroes, and fog-of-war mechanics!
In this game where you defend against the forces of the Great Beast, you push into a corrupted wilderness, build your pool of actions, strengthen your hero, and adapt as the map and the horrors moving across it shift and evolve through your play!

Hey folks! I hope you all are having a great Summer. There’s a ton going on behind the scenes at Avantris Entertainment, and I’m really excited to share some updates with you!
Fill Out Your Backerkit Survey
I’m pleased to announce that all of the Backerkit Surveys in the initial wave have been sent out! As a reminder, if you decided to Pledge Over Time, you will receive your Backerkit Survey in August once your final payment goes through.
If you did not select the Pledge Over Time option and cannot find your Backerkit Survey in your email, please reach out to [email protected] and our Customer Experience Team will be able to get you sorted.
There are still several hundred people who are in our system using Apple Private Relay emails, so please also double check that if you are someone who has used that feature in the past. If that is you, please email [email protected] for assistance.
Important Note: If you do not fill out your Backerkit Survey, you will not be able to access the Neon Odyssey Playtest (or get any of your rewards).
Finally, our team is still hard at work fixing small errors from outlier pledges, so if you notice something wrong with your pledge, please finish the survey first, then inform our team at [email protected].
The First Playtest Is Going to Be HUGE
As I mentioned earlier, just because the Kickstarter campaign ended last month, doesn’t mean that the work ends. We have been working around the clock preparing for the first Neon Odyssey playtest, which is dropping at the end of August! So if you’re itching to dive into Neon Odyssey character creation, I have great news for you.
The First Playtest will include ALL classes, subclasses, and species!
So you can start playing Neon Odyssey very soon with our massive playtest including:
13 Classes
52 Subclasses
42 Species
55 Monsters
6 Ground Vehicles
A Collection of Equipment, Spells, Feats, etc.

As a reminder, this first playtest will be entirely focused on “On Foot” encounters. We are hard at work tweaking our Starship Combat System following your amazing feedback during the Pre-Launch and Campaign Playtest Periods and will be doing future tests of it at a later date.
As a reminder, the playtest content will be distributed based on which books are in your pledge, so you will need to have snagged the whole trilogy to receive all of it. Again, you MUST complete your Backerkit Survey to receive the playtest, and it will be available to both Kickstarter Backers and Backerkit Pre-Order Customers!
If you did Pledge Over Time and are still waiting on your survey, fear not! The Playtest is coming at the end of August and you will have plenty of time to fill out your survey before it arrives, so you will not be stuck waiting.
We are super proud of what we’ve cooked up, and we can’t wait to see what you think!
Neon Odyssey Is Coming to Gen Con
Avantris Entertainment is coming to Gen Con and we’re bringing Neon Odyssey! Although our major focus this year will be the Crooked Moon, there is still a little bit of Neon Odyssey to experience at the convention!
Avantris has a booth AND a whole room this year! You can find a whole plethora of Crooked Moon products AND Avantris merch with some featuring your favorite bounty hunters from Stardust Rhapsody!
And if you are planning on coming to any of our Avantris fan signings, a special Neon Odyssey print will be available to purchase, and it will be available at future conventions we’re at!

The Hunt for Manufacturers Is Underway
Behind the scenes, we are using Gen Con as an opportunity to meet with all of the best manufacturers in the tabletop industry to find the best manufacturing partner for such a massive and important project.
We have a long list of our needs, the quality we want to hit, and things that we want to replicate or improve upon from the Crooked Moon. We learned a ton of lessons from our previous campaign that we’re applying to Neon Odyssey with a much bigger team of super talented folks to bring you the highest quality products we can deliver.
We’ll keep you posted as developments arise and we make our final selections on manufacturing partners!

Backerkit Surveys Rolling Out, Pledge Over Time Backer Update, Vote for Us in the ENnies!

Hey all! Here’s a quick mid-month update!
Backerkit Surveys Rolling Out Now
As I mentioned in the previous update, we initiated the “smoke test” a few weeks back. As is the purpose of this test, we detected a lot of errors and things that needed to be fixed, which the Avantris and Backerkit teams have been hard at work resolving. This was not surprising, given the sheer scale and complexity of the campaign, but the great news is that these issues should be FIXED!
So the Backerkit Survey will start rolling out today, which will be sent out to a portion of backers every day, continuing throughout this week and next week. The survey will be sent to you via email.
Very Important Note: If you notice something wrong with the item on your survey, please complete the survey before contacting the Help Team at [email protected]. If you do not complete your survey first, the Help Team will not be able to verify and correct the issue.
Important Note for Pledge Over Time Backers
While working with Backerkit to finalize the survey, we designated a functionality of the survey that impacts backers who split their payments.
Pledge Over Time backers will not receive the Backerkit survey until the final payment is completed. This does NOT impact fulfillment order.
This means that if you split your payment in three, you will not be receiving your Backerkit survey in this batch. Your surveys will be sent out following your final payment, and we estimate that those surveys will be sent by the end of August.

Hey gang! I’m here for Neon Odyssey’s first proper monthly update!
The Avantris team took a short, well-deserved break to recover from the intense sprint of the Kickstarter campaign, and now we’re back hard at work on the project. We have some exciting things coming!
Backerkit Surveys Coming Soon
As I mentioned in the last update, the Backerkit surveys are right around the corner! We are currently putting the finishing touches on the survey, and are preparing to send it out to all of you!
We expect that the “Smoke Test” may begin as early as this weekend. This means that less than 5 percent of backers will receive their survey, and we will be able to designate any errors, bugs, or things that need to be fixed with a small sample size. Then, once we ensure that the survey is working as intended, we will push out the survey to all backers in waves over the course of a few days.
Once you receive the survey, you’ll be able to update your pledge, add additional add-ons, or even upgrade your tier! Stay tuned for the survey hitting your inbox!
First Playtest Coming in Late August
You’re going to be able to play with Neon Odyssey content soon! We’ll be launching the first Neon Odyssey playtest in late August, which will focus on “on foot” encounters. In the playtest, there will be a ton of Player Options and a bunch of Monsters so you can run all sorts of combat encounters across the galaxy!
Important Note:This playtest will be available only for Kickstarter Backers and Backerkit Pre-Order Customers, and the content will be separated by book and delivered based on the pledge/order. So for instance, if your pledge only includes the Outrunner’s Handbook, you will not receive the playtest content from the Cosmic Codex or Overdrive Expansion. You can always add the books to your pledge or pre-order the respective book via Backerkit if you do not have access to the playtest content you are looking for.
When the playtest launches in late August, you will be able to download the playtest material from the Digital Downloads of your Backerkit Survey. We’re working around the clock to cram as much awesome stuff into the playtest as possible, and we’re so excited for you to start creating characters!
Exclusive Reward Survey Update
We have an update that changes some of the information that was included in our FAQ and in the communications during the Kickstarter campaign! Our brilliant team has figured out more efficient ways to program the Backerkit survey, so if you are eligible for VIP Rewards (Free Neon Nights Dice), Early Backer Rewards (Free Synth Sunset Dice), or the All Physical Backer Reward (Free Retro Vice Dice), they will automatically be added to your order in Backerkit, and you will not need to opt into them! This should make it easier for you and limit confusion overall.
When you do receive the survey, if you do not see rewards you should be eligible for included in your pledge / order, please reach out to [email protected], and they will help you out.
Change Your Apple Private Relay Email
Nearly 1,000 of our backers signed up for Kickstarter using Apple’s Private Email Relay, meaning that the email tied to the account is random and cannot receive emails. If you used this method, you will not receive your Backerkit survey and will not be able to receive your rewards.
If you are someone who uses Apple’s Private Relay, please double check the email that you used to sign up to Kickstarter. If you used this feature, please reach out to [email protected] and provide your backer number to have your email address changed so that you can receive the Backerkit survey and further communications about your pledge.
